How Do I Know If I Need Home Security

June 23rd 2011

Every homeowner deals with worries about home security. Even in good neighborhoods, burglary is always a possibility, not to mention concerns about fire, flood, carbon monoxide, or medical emergency. To determine whether you need home security, you must first audit your own home for potential risks, then decide if home security would help protect you.

Some good questions to ask yourself:
Does my home have first floor windows large enough for a person to fit through?
Could my locks be picked, or my door’s hinges forced open?
Do I have gas heat or appliances that could release carbon monoxide?
Is it possible that in a fire, anyone could become trapped in the home?
Are there vulnerable adults in my home who could have a medical emergency?

There are many types of home security system available, ranging from simple burglar alarms linked into phone centers to complex systems for every conceivable type of disaster.I found some more information here.
